Why attend a literary festival in Nassau, The Bahamas?

Best reason ever! Combine immersion in the literary world with a mini holiday enhanced by the friendliness of the Bahamian people and the pleasures of the beaches and aquamarine waters of our chain of islands. We have a growing literary circle of eager participants and The Bahamas is the Caribbean region’s leading vacation destination, with extraordinary hotels and resorts. Nassau, The Bahamas capital is readily accessible by air from North America, Europe and the Caribbean, directly from Cuba, Jamaica, Panama and also the major hub of Miami, Florida. Nassau is noted for its artists and plenty of art galleries to visit. There are highly original Bahamian crafts. And then there is our Junkanoo, a fusion of art, sculpture and music, that will set the most reserved soul dancing to the seductive beat of the goombay drums.

Published, novice and aspiring writers, academics and book lovers of all ages: join us at the first SeaWords Bahamas, which celebrates writing and publications of all genres. We are not just any literary festival. SeaWords offerings will run the gamut of writing types from high-flown poetry to groundings in crafting film scripts and everyday personal and professional writing and editing. We will talk about how to get published.

Be assured that there will be something to delight everyone who loves the art of the word. Expect author/speaker sessions, poetry readings, how-to workshops for improving your craft or getting started, and storytelling for kids, all drawing on local and international talents. Look for booksellers, and exhibitions of fine Bahamian crafts. Included are book sales and signings after author presentations.

A Grand End-of-Festival Party

To conclude SeaWords Bahamas, we will be hosting a grand party, an extravaganza of all things Bahamian—music, traditional food, a Junkanoo rushout, and opportunity to hobnob with authors, speakers and facilitators. Be sure reserve your tickets early.
